Geological-structural model of the cretaceous base generated by 3D gravimetric inversion of aerogravimetric data - Ucayali Basin, Peru
Main Article Content
Abstract
The research was prepared using gravimetric and geological data owned by the company Pacific Stratus Energy S.A., a Peruvian branch, and is part of the exploratory activities carried out by the company in the northeast part of the Ucayali Basin. For this purpose, the company Carson Aerogravity was contracted to acquire and process geophysical data, which in a first interpretation yielded unsatisfactory results, so it was decided to interpret them again. The methodology used the mathematical model proposed by Rao and Babu (1990) for the calculation of gravimetric anomalies. The processing of the field data was carried out entirely by Carson Aerogravity (2009) in its computer center based in Perkasie, Pennsylvania, USA. Quality aerogravimetric data, properly combined with geological information, and the use of 3D mathematical algorithms, allowed to generate a Structural Map of the Cretaceous Base that shows a very good correlation with the existing 2D seismic in the study area. It is concluded that using aerogravimetric information, an adequate exploration of a study area can be achieved as a basis for planning the subsequent 2D and / or 3D seismic acquisition.
