Project-based learning to improve problem solving in students in an Educational Institution

Abstract
This research had as a study problem How does a project-based learning model improve problem solving in students of the Educational Institution No. 16825 - Jaén ?. For this purpose, the type of research was descriptive with a proposal, the objective was to propose a project-based learning model for problem solving, the study sample is 15 students, the instrument to collect information was a written test, the data was analyzed using the basic statistics of measures of central tendency and variability. The students have developed an average level of problem solving capacity equivalent to 60.0%; 33.3% show a high level and 6.7% show a low level, situation can be improved if it is applied. The project-based learning model as an inquiring, active and group methodology, develops capacities for analysis,elaboration, application of strategies and evaluation, based on constructivist cognitive, psychological and social contributions when solving mathematical problems from the concrete and abstract.
