Abstract

The current Health Emergency situation that the world is experiencing caused by covid-19 highlighted the need to rethink our ways of living together, with Education playing a relevant role, as stated by UNESCO (2017). Consequently, schools have to rethink their teaching strategies. In some Latin American countries, the National Curricula are currently applying important educational guidelines whose objective is for the school to regain its training function for citizens. This research is a review of how Citizen Competencies are being developed in Latin American countries as part of the comprehensive training of the contents. For this, the following materials have been used: Excel, Word, Mendeley and different databases such as Scopus, Dialnet, Ebsco, Google Academic, and Pro Quest where various queries of articles that have been investigated in the last 10 years have been made, allowing to find contributions, difficulties and gaps that can be complemented with new research. The research raises the need for the implementation of new educational policies and a search for dynamic, innovative and participatory strategies that promote the development of capacities and attitudes that contribute to the development of Citizen Competencies.
